Down But Not Out

You're going to survive. You're going to live, you're going to love, you're going to dance again.

JLO on Ellen
Talking about getting through the tough times

I have been battling the flu this week but I think I'm finally on the winning side. Yea! Living in Florida, it's been years since I've had the flu; however, I went to a very fun party on the Florida Intracoastal this past weekend. I brought home some good memories and a bug.  Oh well, I plan to be in fighting form next week.

I hope you've had a great week and have accomplished some of your goals. For those of you who were hit by the snow storm, I hope you're shovelling your way out!

I happened to catch JLO on Ellen and wanted to share a tiny portion of it with you. I think it's wonderful when famous people open up and share their experiences with others. We often see other people in an unrealistic light--not realizing that they share the same doubts, fears, hurts, and trials that we do. JLO talked about the journey she is on and how her life fell apart after her divorce. She did some soul searching and came out of it a better person.

The takeaway is: No matter what you're going through, you are strong, and you will make it. Her ending comment was what I shared in the opening quote.  "You're going to survive.  You're going to live, you're going to love, you're going to dance again."

Have a great weekend.

Wise Words from a Wise Lady

I hope you had an amazing week and that you accomplished great things. If you didn't, don't be too hard on yourself. Monday will be here soon enough and you can start fresh.

As we head into the weekend, here's some brain candy spoken by a very wise lady.

Organize a Little

Organization isn't about perfection. It's about efficiency, reducing stress & clutter, saving time & money, and improving your overall quality of life.
- Christina Scalise

Did you know that there's actually an organization for getting organized?  I kid you not.  And they have declared January as National Get Organized Month.
Who am I to argue with that?  Personally, I'm always frustrated when I can't find something. Trying to find that elusive item can instantly put me in a bad mood. So when I come across a great organzing tip that makes my life easier, I want to climb the highest mountain and share it with the world.  Now where did I put that mountain....

Here's a post that I wrote awhile back in 2012 on my Walking In Pretty Shoes blog. It is a great DIY idea for organizing your jewelry. It became very popular very quickly. I hope you enjoy it too.

Setting Goals for the New Year

The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals.
Self-help author

I can't stress enough how important it is to set goals for yourself. If you don't have a plan, how can you move forward? Many people talk about making a change in their lives, but to make change into reality, you need to write your goals down and refer to them often. Here's how I track my goals and keep myself motivated to continue to strive toward them. It's easy and it's free.

BTW, I'm not receiving any compensation from the company. I'm pretty sure they don't even know I exist. :-)

Happy New Year!

"Ask yourself, If not me, who?
  If not now, when?"

Launching the UN Women HeForShe campaign

It's a brand new year; a blank slate.  Make it count. Make 2015 your best year yet.

There's no better time to be a woman than right now. You can be anyone and do anything you want.   Reinvent yourself if you're unhappy with your life. You are amazing and it's time you shared that side of you with the world.
